NOVA.id.FCT - Associação para a Inovação e Desenvolvimento da FCT is announcing an international call for a PhD Researcher to join the CENIMAT|i3N labs at the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. This position is part of the R&D project “GLAZE,” focusing on the study and characterization of ceramic heritage materials, specifically Iznik tiles. The successful candidate will engage in advanced material characterization using techniques such as XRD, XRF, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, SEM, OM, and DSC, contributing to scientific reports, publications, and outreach activities.
The role requires exclusive dedication to NOVA.id.FCT, with the possibility to opt for a full-time regime. The contract is unfixed term, initially for 12 months, with potential extension depending on project duration and funding. The position is funded by the Innovation and Digital Transition Programme, the Lisbon Regional Programme (FEDER), and Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, offering a monthly gross salary of €2,351.53 (or two-thirds for full-time regime).
Applicants must hold a PhD in Materials Science, recognized in Portugal, with demonstrated experience in the physical and chemical characterization of ceramic materials, especially historical tiles. Experience in European and national cultural heritage projects and outreach activities is required, along with good fluency in English. The selection process involves evaluation of scientific and curricular achievements, professional experience, and an interview for top candidates.
