The Biozentrum of the University of Basel is one of the world’s leading life sciences institutes, home to 33 research groups, 500 employees, and several Nobel Laureates. We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join the research group of Prof. Knut Drescher, focusing on molecular microbiology and bacterial biofilms.
?? About the project:
The Drescher Lab ( https://drescherlab.org ) investigates the development and emergent properties of bacterial communities (biofilms) — structured microbial systems that play key roles in human infections.
This PhD project will combine transcriptomics, genetics, and advanced microscopy to analyze and manipulate bacterial biofilms during infection and growth.
The exact research focus will be developed collaboratively with Prof. Drescher, based on the student’s strengths and interests.
