About this position

York University’s School of Kinesiology & Health Science (Faculty of Health) is seeking thesis-based MSc and PhD students to join the research program led by Assistant Professor Brittany Intzandt. The lab investigates how lifestyle factors influence brain health, with a special focus on sex-specific differences and outcomes across ethnically and racially diverse populations. Research methods include neuroimaging, biostatistics, and large-scale modeling to explore brain–body connections and inform more precise, equitable, and inclusive approaches to healthy brain aging and reducing the risk of neurodegenerative conditions.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in a new partnership with a world-renowned research hospital, enabling engagement in clinically anchored, population-level brain health research. The lab values intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm for data-driven research, and a motivation to make a rigorous and meaningful impact in the field.

Applicants should be interested in neuroscience, public health, biology, and related fields. The positions are open for a Fall 2026 start. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Brittany Intzandt via direct message or email ([email protected]) to discuss their interest and fit for the lab. The application deadline is approaching, so early contact is recommended.

Key research areas: brain health, neuroimaging, biostatistics, healthy brain aging, sex-specific differences, population health, kinesiology, health science, neurodegenerative conditions, large-scale modeling.
