About this position

I’m looking for a motivated PhD student to join an exciting project on:
"Generative Design of Offshore Wind Foundations Using Physics-Informed AI" at Cranfield University
This is a unique opportunity to tackle real-world challenges in offshore renewable energy, combining generative AI, physics-informed neural networks (PINNs), and structural/geotechnical data to automate and optimize wind turbine foundation design.
Key things to know:
?? Open to both UK and international students
?? Work at the intersection of AI, structural mechanics & renewable energy
?? Develop tools using VAEs, diffusion models, and finite element validation
?? Access to HPC, Abaqus, OpenFAST, and digital twin platforms
?? Present at conferences & publish in high-impact journals
?? Optional training in ML, offshore codes, or industry software
