Description

The University of Sydney is offering ARC-funded PhD and Masters by Research scholarships for students interested in developing new methods for analysing spatial omics data. The successful candidate will join the Sydney Precision Data Science Centre and the School of Mathematics and Statistics, working under the supervision of leading researchers including Shila Ghazanfar. This opportunity is ideal for students with backgrounds in statistics, data science, computer science, bioinformatics, or mathematics, and who are passionate about advancing research in spatial omics and precision data science. The ARC Postgraduate Research Scholarship provides a generous stipend of $42,754 per annum (indexed annually) for up to 3.5 years for PhD students and 1.5 years for Masters by Research students. International students will also receive full academic tuition fee coverage for the duration of their program. The scholarship is open to both domestic and international applicants who hold at least an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or a Masters degree in a relevant field. Applicants must be willing to conduct research aligned with ARC-funded projects and under the supervision of ARC grant holders. Applicants are required to have or obtain an unconditional offer of admission to a relevant research program within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. Selection is based on academic merit, research proposal, relevant experience, and a personal statement demonstrating interest in ARC projects. The scholarship supports high-quality research that contributes to the Australian community and may be co-funded by the Faculty of Science and ARC research grants. The research focus includes spatial omics, statistics, data science, and bioinformatics, with the opportunity to work in a collaborative and innovative environment. The application deadline is 18 January 2026. For more information and to apply, visit the University of Sydney scholarships page or contact the listed supervisors.
