About this position

The University of Queensland is inviting applications for a PhD position in Fire Safety Engineering, focusing on the integration of external wall systems into the fire safety strategy of buildings. The project investigates how combustible elements in exterior wall systems impact vertical fire spread and overall building safety, with the goal of developing holistic fire safety strategies that harmonize all building components.

The scholarship provides a living stipend of $37,500 per annum (tax free, 2026 rate, indexed annually) and covers tuition fees. Applicants should have a strong academic background in civil engineering, fire safety engineering, or fire science, with knowledge of fire engineering and flammability considered highly desirable. Selection is competitive and based on academic record, publications, honours, awards, and employment history.
