Constructor University Bremen gGmbH, in collaboration with the Constructor Knowledge Lab, is offering a PhD position focused on Higher Education Innovations. This opportunity is supervised by Professor Isak Frumin and is based within the School of Science in Bremen, Germany. The research aims to explore how universities worldwide are responding to global social, technological, and economic changes by developing innovative institutional models, governance structures, and teaching practices.

The project provides a unique platform for comparative research, international collaboration, and contribution to publications and knowledge-exchange projects on institutional innovation and strategic management in higher education. Research topics may include emerging models of innovative universities, governance forms, institutional reform, interdisciplinarity, new models of research collaboration, strategies for university transformation in knowledge-intensive and technology-driven environments, international comparisons of higher education innovations, knowledge management, organizational learning, university-industry collaboration, and digital ecosystems.

The research combines organizational theory, information systems, and higher education studies, allowing candidates to address both theoretical and applied aspects of institutional innovation. The position is ideal for those interested in organizational transformation, technology adoption, and data analytics within educational or research contexts.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in information systems, management, economics, sociology, political science, or higher education studies. Strong analytical and academic writing skills in English are required, demonstrated through thesis or publications. Research experience using qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods is essential. Preferred qualifications include a background in data-driven analysis, management science, or organizational research, and some proficiency in German is desirable but not mandatory.

This is a self-funded PhD position. Constructor University subsidizes administrative fees for accepted candidates and provides access to its research infrastructure, office space, and supervision network. The university actively supports candidates in preparing applications for external funding, such as doctoral scholarships, foundations, or international mobility grants, and can provide institutional support and references for such applications.
