Lund University, a top-ranked institution in Sweden, is offering a fully funded PhD position in Political Science focused on the interdisciplinary project "Power and Polarisation in Swedish Forestry: From Lock-ins to Sustainable Transition." The project, funded by FORMAS (2025-2030), investigates the drivers and impacts of polarisation in Swedish forestry, aiming to identify sustainable compromises and policy solutions. The research team employs diverse methods, including interviews, focus groups, surveys, ethnographic approaches, and network analyses, and collaborates with major stakeholders in the forestry sector.

The doctoral student will join the Department of Political Science and work under the supervision of Professor Fariborz Zelli and Dr. Thomas Hickmann. The position is salaried for four years, with the possibility of extension for departmental duties such as teaching. The main language of the program is English, but non-Swedish speakers are expected to acquire basic Swedish skills during their studies. The successful candidate will have the freedom to formulate research questions and develop theoretical and methodological approaches within the project's scope.

Strong motivation, the ability to work independently, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and proficiency in English are required.
