Description

The Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) School of Management and School of Life Sciences is offering a PhD student / junior researcher position in Empirical Microeconomics and Applied Microeconomics. The successful candidate will engage in advanced empirical research in areas such as productivity and efficiency measurement, policy design and impact analysis, resource allocation, growth and welfare evaluation, technology diffusion, and firm-level innovation. The position is designed to lead to an internationally competitive PhD degree and peer-reviewed publications, with opportunities to participate in both nationally and internationally funded projects. Supervision will be provided by senior academic staff, and the candidate may be involved in teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, as well as in funding acquisition and global outreach activities. International networking and collaborations are strongly encouraged, with potential connections in regions such as South America, Asia, or Africa. The PhD process includes integration into TUM’s School of Life Sciences or School of Management and participation in graduate school training programs. Applicants should hold an excellent or very-good university degree in economics, business studies, agricultural sciences with an economics focus, or related disciplines. Strong skills in quantitative data analysis (econometrics, statistics, machine learning), high motivation, independence, teamwork, and excellent English proficiency are required; willingness to learn German is expected. The position offers a stimulating, international work environment at one of Europe’s leading universities, with salary according to the German State Regulated Public Salary Scale (TV-L E13 2/3), initially for 2 years with possible extension.
