University of Copenhagen is advertising a 3-year postdoctoral position in Animal Welfare at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The project focuses on advancing understanding of behavioural strategies of production animals and horses living in large, dynamic social groups.

The postdoc will work across animal welfare, animal behaviour, animal husbandry, and related quantitative approaches. Core tasks include finalizing and publishing manuscripts from existing datasets, contributing to a major interdisciplinary research grant proposal, creating and analysing behavioural datasets (including social structure, resource use, and sensor data), collaborating internationally, presenting at conferences, and supporting the research environment through mentoring and teaching.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Behavioural Ecology, or a related discipline; strong publication potential; experience with statistical analysis of behavioural data; excellent English communication skills; and the ability to work independently in interdisciplinary teams. Preferred experience includes multiple species, especially production animals and horses, plus grant writing and advanced quantitative analysis.

Funding/terms: full-time postdoc under the University of Copenhagen’s academic employment agreement. Salary is according to the Danish state academic agreement, with possible salary supplement negotiation. No specific stipend amount is listed.
