About this position

Technische Universität Chemnitz is advertising a postdoc / research associate position in inorganic chemistry within the ERC-funded project AGILE (“Bis(carbene) Analogues of Aluminium and Gallium as Building Blocks for Highly Selective Reagents and Next Generation Catalysts”). The position is based in the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry and the Institute of Chemistry at Chemnitz University of Technology, working in the research group of Robert Kretschmer.

The project focuses on the synthesis, structural characterization, reactivity, and catalysis of new bis(carbene) analogues of aluminium and gallium, with links to organometallic chemistry, main-group chemistry, and transition-metal ligand design. The successful candidate will work with modern synthetic methods including Schlenk and glovebox techniques, synthetic electrochemistry, and flow chemistry, and will use NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

This is a 30-month, 100% E13 TV-L fixed-term postdoc position. The post is part of an ERC-funded project, and the advert emphasizes a collaborative, international, and inclusive working environment. Applicants should have a PhD in inorganic molecular chemistry, preferably with experience in main-group element chemistry, strong synthetic skills, and excellent English. Python/data visualization experience is welcome.

Application deadline: 2026-04-21. Apply by email preferably as a single PDF with cover letter, CV, certificates, and contact references, using the keyword ERC_Postdoc-2. If available, include your dissertation. The contact email listed is [email protected].
