The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Chalmers University of Technology, in collaboration with the University of Gothenburg, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in mathematics with a focus on educational science. This position is part of the Akelius Math Learning Lab, where teachers and researchers develop digital mathematics learning materials aimed at supporting education in the global south and refugee camps. The project collaborates with international aid organizations to create resources accessible in multiple languages and adaptable for use in classrooms worldwide, including Sweden.

The research group 'Teaching and Learning of Mathematics' leads the academic investigation of how these digital materials are used by students and teachers in diverse contexts, and how they impact engagement and learning outcomes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the research focus within the scope of the lab's activities, with possible domains including the evaluation of digital teaching materials, learning analytics, and the study of educational engagement.

The postdoc will also have opportunities to supervise master's and/or PhD students and may participate in undergraduate or master's level teaching.

This is a fully funded, full-time position for two years, with all employee benefits. The position requires physical presence in Sweden for the duration of the contract, and a valid residence permit must be presented by the start date. The expected starting date is September 2026, or as agreed.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in mathematics, mathematics education, learning in mathematics, or digital learning by the time of employment. Meritorious qualifications include teaching experience, a strong mathematics background, experience with digital teaching materials, and expertise in quantitative methods and learning analytics. Applications must be submitted in English and include a CV, personal letter, introduction, motivation, PhD thesis, and transcripts. The deadline for applications is 23 February 2026.
