About this position
The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the Polymer Chemistry Lab under the supervision of Prof. Yves Geerts. The research focuses on the polymorphism of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), specifically the occurrence of multiple crystal structures in molecular crystals, which is highly relevant for pharmaceutical applications. The group is renowned for its work in the design, synthesis, processing, and characterization of advanced molecular materials, with a strong emphasis on non-equilibrium thermodynamics and crystallization processes.
The successful candidate will investigate the polymorphism of selected APIs, contributing to the understanding of crystal growth, phase transitions, and the influence of high pressure on polymorphic forms. The project is part of the POLYAPI initiative, which aims to develop new methods for obtaining unprecedented polymorphs of industrially important APIs. The lab offers a collaborative environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and expertise in materials science and chemistry.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry or physics, possess strong laboratory and analytical skills, and demonstrate proficiency in English. The position is fully funded with a tax-free fellowship of approximately €3000 per month for one year, with the possibility of extension. Candidates are required to submit a motivation letter, CV, electronic copies of degrees, a publication list, and contact information for three referees. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
