About this position

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is advertising a postdoc position in pulse-mediated electrodeposition of shaped particles within the research group of Paula Sebastián Pascual (Assistant Professor, Chemistry Department, KTH). The project sits at the intersection of chemistry, materials science, electrochemistry, and electrocatalysis, with a strong focus on preparing high-index facet-shaped particles, especially kinked surfaces, using pulse-mediated electrodeposition.

The research will explore how deep eutectic solvents and other organic solvents influence nucleation, growth, and particle shape during pulsed deposition. The successful candidate will also study electrochemical surface characterization methods to identify surface geometries and active sites, and then evaluate the deposited particles in electrocatalytic reactions, especially the conversion of biomass-derived feedstocks into value-added chemicals.

This is a WISE-funded postdoctoral position (Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability) at KTH in Stockholm, Sweden. The appointment is temporary for up to two years and is a full-time research role.

Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree in Chemistry or Physics with a background in electrocatalysis; demonstrated experimental experience in electrochemistry and electrocatalysis; strong English communication skills. Preferred experience includes electrochemical surface characterization, pulsed electrodeposition, shaped particles or single-crystal electrodes, and electron microscopy/diffraction-based methods.

How to apply: submit the application through KTH’s recruitment system. The application should include a CV, diplomas and grades, a short research motivation statement, at least two publications, and any required translation/defense-date information. Deadline: 2026-04-28.

Contact: [email protected]. More information about the group and project is available via the linked KTH profile and job posting.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
