The African Genome Center (AGC) at UM6P is a research-focused facility operating across four main axes: Biodiversity Genomics, OMICS and Metabolic Engineering, Genome Editing, and Natural Product Chemistry and Metabolomics. AGC is equipped with advanced genomics platforms and serves as a central hub for genome biology research and training in Morocco and Africa. The center’s mission is to democratize genomics research, supporting both fundamental and applied investigations in agriculture, conservation, environment, food security, and health. AGC also facilitates technology transfer and provides training to nurture highly skilled personnel.

This postdoctoral fellowship is offered within Professor Vittorio Venturi’s research group at AGC. The research program focuses on unraveling bacterial cell-cell signaling within plant microbiomes. The successful candidate will analyze genomics and metagenomics data to dissect signaling systems of plant-associated bacteria and study the genomic features of beneficial bacterial strains. The project is at the intersection of genomics, microbiology, and agriculture, aiming to advance sustainable agricultural solutions by understanding microbial interactions in plant ecosystems.

Applicants must have a PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Microbial Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Required qualifications include expertise in bacteriology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and soil and rhizosphere microbial genomics, proficiency in molecular biology laboratory techniques, a strong publication record in international journals, and excellent English communication skills.
