Postdoctoral Fellowship in Lifespan Personality, Health, and Cognitive Aging at Northwestern University Northwestern University in United States

The Lifespan Personality and Health Lab in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to join their team starting June 2026. The lab focuses on NIH-funded projects at the intersection of personality, stress, health, cognitive aging and dementia, loneliness, and social isolation. The position offers exposure to lifespan developmental perspectives on psychosocial factors and health, individual differences in stress, personality development, integrative data analysis, and advanced quantitative methods including multilevel modeling and structural equation modeling. Proficiency in R and/or Mplus is preferred.

Primary responsibilities include data analysis and manuscript preparation, both first-authored and collaborative papers. The fellow will work on ongoing projects, have access to data sets for publications, receive mentorship in grant writing and publication, participate in mentoring graduate students and summer research interns, and benefit from career development opportunities at Northwestern University.

The position is based in the Department of Medical Social Sciences, Feinberg School of Medicine, which provides a unique environment for applied researchers integrating biomedical and social science approaches to health improvement. The department offers rich resources for conducting research, including a broad scientific portfolio with multiple, well-characterized cohorts across the lifespan, psychometric/biostatistical and health informatics cores, and expertise in multi-level assessment methods.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree (or ABD) in personality, health, lifespan developmental psychology, or a related behavioral or social science. Required skills include quantitative data analysis, multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling, proficiency in R and/or Mplus, and excellent communication and writing skills. Advanced training in research methodology and statistics is expected. The position is fully funded with a minimum starting salary of $61,008.00 plus benefits, with salary increases for postdoctoral experience. The appointment is for two years, renewable based on performance.
