About this position

The FutureNeuro Research Ireland Centre for Translational Brain Science is inviting applications for the NeuroAdapt Fellowship Call 2, led by Prof Gianpiero Cavalleri, Professor of Human Genetics at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and Deputy Director of FutureNeuro. This postdoctoral fellowship focuses on cutting-edge research in human genetics, epilepsy, and translational brain science, with a strong emphasis on DNA sequencing, clinical diagnostics, and the development of personalised medicine approaches for neurological disorders.

Prof Cavalleri leads the Diagnostics Programme, which aims to identify new genetic causes of epilepsy and improve clinical diagnostics for patients and families. The programme is highly collaborative, involving industry partners such as Congenica, UCB, and Janssen, and offers fellows the opportunity to bridge discovery science with real-world therapeutic impact. Fellows will benefit from mentorship, training, and career development activities, including intersectoral secondments and public and patient involvement initiatives.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be postdoctoral researchers (PhD or equivalent), fluent in English (TOEFL 237 computer-based, 580 paper-based, or equivalent), and to comply with mobility rules (not having resided or worked in Ireland for more than 12 months in the past 3 years). The fellowship is open to both incoming and outgoing researchers, with specific rules for nationals of Horizon Europe Member States and Associated Countries. Researchers at risk and those from disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply and may receive additional support, including relocation assistance and welfare services.

The fellowship is fully funded, providing salary, research support, and access to state-of-the-art facilities. Fellows will receive comprehensive management and technical support, as well as opportunities for secondments and intersectoral engagement. The application deadline is April 10, 2026. For more information and to apply, visit the FutureNeuro NeuroAdapt website or contact [email protected].
