The University Medicine Greifswald is offering a postdoctoral position in the PodoHealthX team, focusing on the generation of podocytes from induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells derived from patients with kidney diseases. The research is led by Professor Nicole Endlich, a renowned kidney researcher with over 20 years of experience. The successful candidate will work at the interface of research and application, contributing to the differentiation of iPS cells into podocytes, the development and optimization of human podocyte cell lines, and the establishment of new iPS cell lines from patients with chronic kidney disease and healthy controls.

Key responsibilities include molecular, histological, and cell biological characterization of iPS cells and derived podocytes, planning and conducting cell biology experiments, and preparing data for scientific publications and grant applications. The role also involves participation in teaching activities in cell biology, histology, and microscopy.

Applicants should hold a PhD in life sciences (biology, human biology, medicine, or related fields), demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills, and have a passion for experimental research, particularly in cell culture, histological staining, and microscopy. The position requires independent, structured, and responsible work habits, as well as motivation to contribute to scientific publications and funding proposals.

The position is full-time, initially limited to two years with the possibility of extension.
