Uppsala University is offering a postdoctoral researcher position in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics for biomarker discovery, specifically focused on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC, pancreatic cancer). The position is based in the laboratory of Professor Daniel Globisch at the Department of Chemistry – BMC, a multidisciplinary and international research group integrating chemical biology, bioorganic chemistry, and metabolomics for microbiome analysis and biomarker discovery.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant research environment with access to advanced infrastructure and collaborations with groups in biology, pharmacy, medicine, and SciLifeLab. The research project centers on quantitative and qualitative metabolomics analysis of human plasma and serum samples from pancreatic cancer patients and related diseases, aiming to discover new biomarkers. The project also involves developing chemical biology methodologies for targeted investigation of microbiome metabolism and integrating metabolomics data with other datasets.

The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for biological sample preparation, UHPLC-MS/MS analysis, bioinformatics, statistical analysis, and biomarker validation. The analysis will be part of the EU-network PANCAID, fostering interdisciplinary scientific interactions within an international consortium. Applicants must hold a PhD degree and have documented laboratory experience in at least two of the following areas: metabolomics data analysis, mass spectrometric analysis of biological samples, biomarker discovery, and chemical biology. Strong collaborative skills, motivation, independence, and good English proficiency are required. IELTS or TOEFL scores are desirable but not mandatory.
