About this position

The University of Groningen is offering two postdoctoral positions for a large-scale precision psychiatry biomarker mapping project within the Neurobiology group at the Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences (GELIFES). The project is embedded in the international Precision Psychiatry Roadmap initiative, coordinated by the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP), and focuses on mapping biomarkers related to anxiety disorders, depression, and psychosis. Under the supervision of Prof. Martien Kas, postdocs will systematically identify, categorize, and analyze established and ongoing international biomarker studies, including biological, behavioral, social, and digital biomarkers.

Key responsibilities include conducting literature and internet-based reviews, engaging stakeholders to collect detailed study information, and mapping biomarkers according to functional domains, biological levels, and stages of validation. The postdocs will perform gap analyses to identify unmet needs in transdiagnostic and within-disorder stratification, contribute to international consensus-building meetings and workshops, and co-author peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, biomedical sciences, data science, or a related field, with experience in systematic literature reviews, evidence synthesis, or large-scale data mapping projects. Strong analytical skills, familiarity with biomarkers in mental health research, experience with international consortia, proficiency in AI-assisted tools, and excellent English communication skills are required.

The positions are fixed-term for 2.5 years, with a salary of €4241—€4728 per month, 232 vacation hours per year (based on a 38-hour workweek), an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, an 8% holiday allowance, and extensive opportunities for personal and professional development. The University of Groningen is a top 100 global university, offering an inclusive and supportive academic environment.

Applications are open until 14 February 2026. For more information or questions, contact Prof. Martien Kas at [email protected]. Apply via the AcademicTransfer portal.
