A postdoctoral researcher position is available at TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology), Austria, in the Faculty of Informatics, specifically within the Research Unit of Artifact-based Computing & User Research at the Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology. The position focuses on human–robot interaction, interactive robots and drones, user research, and experimental systems, with a strong emphasis on human-centered design and user studies.

The successful candidate will design and prototype next-generation interactive ground and aerial robots capable of sensing and interpreting human behavior. Responsibilities include conducting user studies with various stakeholders using both quantitative and qualitative research methods, analyzing data, co-supervising BSc and MSc students, participating in organizational and administrative tasks, and contributing to research grant writing and teaching. The research environment is interdisciplinary and international, offering opportunities for collaboration and professional development.

Applicants must have completed a PhD in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field by the start date. Required qualifications include experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Robot Interaction, or interaction with autonomous vehicles, a strong publication record in top HCI/HRI/Robotics venues, ability to work independently and collaboratively, experience in teaching or mentoring, leadership and management skills, strong interaction design skills (prototyping, wireframing, use of tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Autodesk), broad knowledge of user research methods (participatory design, interviews, surveys, usability testing, in-person experiments), data analysis skills, and excellent English communication skills. Knowledge of German is an advantage.

The position is full-time (40 hours/week), fixed-term from March 2026 until February 2027, and offers a minimum gross salary of EUR 5,014.30 per month (14 times per year), with possible increases based on relevant experience.
