About this position

Do you know a student thinking about graduate school with interests in vision and applied research? Our lab - the Applied Perception and Psychophysics Lab (APPLY Lab) at the University of Toronto is recruiting PhD students for Fall 2025.We're part of the Psychology PhD program here at the University of Toronto, and the lab focuses on use-inspired vision research, doing interdisciplinary work bridging gaps between fundamental research and applied practice.APPLY Lab houses my lab and Anna Kosovicheva's lab, and we cover a lot of territory in vision science and cognitive psychology. Have a look: www.applylab.orgMy work focuses on how drivers acquire visual information (think "what leads to situation awareness and how do constraints of visual perception impact on-road behaviour"), and I also work on digital readability (how the appearance of text can and should change to help readers).Anna's work focuses on individual differences in visual perception, ranging from fundamental research to developing new assessment tools for amblyopia and strabismus to figuring out what users need on an individual basis (the old saw that the average user doesn't exist!).The department has an open house on 4 November (register https://lnkd.in/e2GghB37) …more
