TU Wien, Austria's largest institution for research and higher education in technology and natural sciences, is offering a PhD position as University Assistant Prae-Doc at the Institute of Materials Science and Technology. The role is within the Research Group for Materials and Additive Manufacturing, focusing on lithography-based additive manufacturing and related materials science topics. The position is limited to four years, with a workload of 30 hours per week, and is expected to start in May 2026.

As a University Assistant Prae-Doc, you will collaborate on research and teaching tasks, participate in examinations, and guide students. Your research will center on lithography-based additive manufacturing, including optics (Fourier optics), optical system design, and polymer science. You will be expected to write a dissertation and scientific publications, attend scientific events, and assist with organizational and administrative tasks within the group.

Applicants must have completed a master or diploma curriculum in mechanical engineering, materials science, technical physics, or biomedical engineering. Experience in experimental work, optics, and optical systems is required. Familiarity with lithography-based additive manufacturing and basic polymer science is advantageous. Strong communication and writing skills in both German and English (minimum B2 level) are essential, along with teamwork, innovative ability, and an interest in research and student supervision.
