Postdoctoral Position in Climate-Smart Agriculture and Environmental Science at Agroscope (EU Project)

Agroscope, Switzerland's federal center of excellence for agricultural and food research, is offering a postdoctoral position as part of the EU-Horizon project ClimateSmartResearch (CSR). This project focuses on the validation and scientific evaluation of innovative climate-smart agricultural practices aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change across Europe. The successful candidate will coordinate project activities, conduct model-based assessments of climate-smart practices, and contribute to the development and implementation of the ADAPT research platform. The position is based in Zurich (Reckenholzstrasse 191, 8046 Zürich) and is available from April 1, 2026, or by agreement, with a fixed-term contract until March 31, 2029. The research group 'Climate and Agriculture' at Agroscope investigates options for reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, soil management, fertilization, and carbon sinks, as well as the risks and opportunities of climate change for crop production. The group is also responsible for Switzerland's agricultural greenhouse gas inventory. Applicants should hold a PhD in agricultural, environmental, or climate sciences or a related field, with strong expertise in greenhouse gas emissions, climate adaptation in agriculture, and experience in modeling, accounting, or inventorying agricultural emissions. Excellent English skills are required, and knowledge of two Swiss official languages is advantageous. The position offers a collaborative, international research environment, with benefits including support for health and diversity, and employment conditions according to Swiss federal regulations. For more information, visit the project website at climatesmartresearch.eu or the official job posting. Interested candidates should apply online via the Agroscope job portal and may contact Christoph Ammann, Team Leader Emissions, for further details. Please note that applications will not be processed during the holiday closure from December 20, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
