Postdoctoral Associate in Marine Science, Environmental Justice, and Ocean Governance
The SNAPP Advancing Ocean Equity Project, hosted at Duke University Marine Lab in Beaufort, North Carolina, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join a global team focused on advancing equitable ocean governance and positive coastal outcomes. The project is led by Assistant Professor David Gill (Duke University, USA) and Dr. Sangeeta Mangubhai (Talanoa Consulting, Fiji), with collaboration from practitioners and academic researchers worldwide. The successful candidate will work in a vibrant research environment, contributing to evidence-based guidance for equitable governance in marine and coastal contexts.
The postdoc will assemble and manage a global database of quantitative and qualitative datasets on social and ecological conditions in marine systems, analyze causal linkages between governance and outcomes, and support the development of guidance for practitioners. Responsibilities include leading or contributing to peer-reviewed publications, coordinating project activities, and participating in communication and dissemination efforts. The position offers a salary of US $62,000-$65,000, health benefits, and a contract term of one year with the possibility of extension. Funding includes a budget for a laptop and travel to workshops and meetings.
Applicants must have a PhD in an environmental, economic, or related field, with strong experience in causal inference research, statistical and analytical skills, proficiency in R, and excellent communication abilities.
