Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Organisation and Technology in Public Services at King's College London
King's College London, a globally renowned institution, is seeking to appoint one or more outstanding scholars at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Reader level in Organisation and Technology in Public Services within the Department of Public Services Management & Organisation (PSMO) at King's Business School. The department is at the forefront of research and teaching on the management, organisation, and technological transformation of public services, with a strong emphasis on digital government, AI regulation, and the impact of new technologies on work and professional practices.
The PSMO department explores complex issues in public, private, and third sector organisations, focusing on digitalisation, governance, diversity & inclusion, and the future of work. Research themes include management and organisation of public services, technology-mediated organisational change, professional work, and the theory and methods of organisational research. The department is involved in high-impact, interdisciplinary research projects funded by major UK and international bodies, and collaborates with a wide range of academic and non-academic partners.
The successful candidate will contribute to the department's research and teaching portfolio, which includes two specialist MSc programmes (Public Policy & Management; Management & Technological Change) and a full suite of undergraduate and executive education courses. Candidates should have expertise in areas such as digital government, AI regulation, technologies in public services, or technology and (professional) work. Teaching responsibilities may include research methods, technology & innovation, design & responsible innovation, or AI at Work.
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline (or be close to completion for Lecturer level) and demonstrate a strong fit with the department's research and teaching interests. Evidence of research excellence, a pipeline of high-quality outputs, and experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level are essential. For Senior Lecturer and Reader levels, an international research reputation, a track record of publications in leading journals, and experience in academic leadership are required.
This is a full-time, indefinite contract position based at the Strand Campus in central London. The salary ranges from £53,947 to £74,613 per annum, depending on the level of appointment, and includes the London Weighting Allowance.
