PhD Position in Auditory Neuroscience at Creighton University

PhD Position in Auditory Neuroscience at Creighton University The laboratory of Assistant Professor Hui Hong at Creighton University School of Medicine is seeking a motivated PhD student to join a dynamic research team focused on auditory neuroscience. The research investigates the plasticity of central auditory circuits, with particular emphasis on efferent feedback pathways, ion channel regulation, and neural plasticity following noise exposure. The lab employs advanced techniques such as whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology (including Patch-seq and optogenetics), as well as molecular and systems-level approaches. The position is based in The Dr. Richard J. Bellucci Translational Hearing Center, a collaborative environment that integrates basic neuroscience, clinical research, and translational discovery to advance hearing science. Students will benefit from a friendly and supportive mentoring environment, hands-on training in electrophysiology and experimental neuroscience, and opportunities to present their work at major conferences and publish in leading journals. The interdisciplinary setting spans neuroscience, physiology, and hearing science. Applicants should have a background in neuroscience, biology, engineering, or related fields. While prior experience with electrophysiology is helpful, it is not required; enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment are highly valued. The position is open to students eligible for the Biomedical Sciences PhD program at Creighton University School of Medicine. Interested candidates should apply through the Biomedical Sciences PhD program and are encouraged to contact Assistant Professor Hui Hong at [email protected] with a CV and a brief statement of research interests.
