PhD in Hydrology and Environmental Modelling – Runoff Dynamics and Flash Floods

The University of Greenwich is offering a PhD opportunity focused on understanding runoff dynamics in small, flash-flood-prone catchments. This project aims to develop innovative models for flash flood prediction and support risk-informed policy decisions. Research areas include hydrology, flood risk, environmental modelling, and climate impacts, with an emphasis on applying scientific findings to real-world decision-making. The project is supervised by Senior Lecturer Ioanna Stamataki, an expert in hydrology and environmental science. Applicants should have a background in hydrology, environmental science, geography, or related disciplines. Experience with environmental modelling, flood risk analysis, or climate impact studies is desirable.
