Postdoctoral Fellowships in Bioinformatics, Single-Cell Omics, AI, and Systems Biology
The University of Copenhagen's Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships in bioinformatics, single-cell omics, artificial intelligence, and systems biology. The Merino Group at CBMR is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join their interdisciplinary team, focusing on computational and integrative biology projects that aim to unravel the early molecular and regulatory changes preceding cardiometabolic disease onset.
CBMR is a leading research center dedicated to advancing the understanding of cardiometabolic health through collaborative, interdisciplinary research spanning single-cell genomics to whole-body systems. The Merino Group integrates wearable data, digital health tools, molecular profiling, and AI within a precision health framework to better classify, prevent, and treat type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders.
The successful candidate will lead and support projects centered on molecular profile characterization, with a strong emphasis on gene regulatory programs and omics readouts at cellular resolution. The role involves developing computational approaches to model dynamic regulatory programs of cells and tissues, combining single-cell multi-omics, wearable-derived measures, machine learning, and network biology. The goal is to map how genes, proteins, and other molecular readouts interact to shape cellular states, signaling pathways, and disease trajectories, ultimately contributing to precision prevention and treatment strategies for cardiometabolic diseases.
Applicants must hold a PhD in bioinformatics, machine learning, computational biology, statistical genetics, genomics, or a related discipline. Essential qualifications include expertise in analyzing large-scale datasets (e.g., single-cell RNA-seq, genomic, or multi-omics data), proficiency in Python or R, and experience with machine learning, systems biology, or network modeling. Prior experience in human cardiometabolic or complex diseases and familiarity with omics-to-phenotype analyses are advantageous. Strong communication skills, scientific productivity, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary, international team are required.
The position is full-time, fixed-term for three years, starting 1 March 2026 or as agreed. Salary, pension, and terms of employment follow the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC, with possible supplements based on qualifications. Eligible non-Danish and Danish applicants may benefit from tax reductions. The workplace is located at the Maersk Tower, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen, offering a creative and stimulating international research environment.
