Postdoc in SLAM & Situational Awareness for Robotics

The University of Luxembourg, a leading international research university, is offering a postdoctoral position in SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) and situational awareness for robotics within the Automation & Robotics Research Group (ARG) at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in perception and situational understanding for robots and autonomous systems, advancing the state-of-the-art in SLAM, computer vision, machine learning, and related fields. The role involves developing and implementing innovative solutions, validated through experiments on robotic platforms, and disseminating research findings through top-tier journals and conferences. The postdoc will take a leading role in research projects, collaborate with stakeholders, prepare project deliverables, and participate in securing industry partnerships and grant funding. Mentoring and supervising PhD students is also part of the responsibilities. Applicants should have a strong research background in SLAM, robotics, computer vision, or machine learning, with a proven publication record, solid mathematical and programming skills (Python/C++), and familiarity with relevant frameworks (ROS, GTSAM, G2O, OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow). Experience with industry or publicly funded projects is desirable. The position offers a fixed-term contract for 24 months, full-time, with a yearly gross salary of EUR 85,176. The university provides a modern, international, and dynamic environment with high-quality equipment and strong ties to industry and European institutions. Applications must be submitted online, including a CV, cover letter, publication list, academic qualifications, research experience, programming skills, referees, and optionally a short video introduction. Early applications are encouraged, and all qualified individuals are welcome to apply in line with the university's commitment to inclusivity and equality.
