Doctoral Researcher in Post-Quantum Cryptography
The University of Turku, Faculty of Technology, Department of Computing, is offering a fully funded three-year doctoral researcher position in the field of post-quantum cryptography. This opportunity is part of a European defense project that unites leading universities and industry partners across Europe, providing a vibrant, interdisciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of state-of-the-art post-quantum cryptographic protocols and algorithms, collaborating closely with top-tier European academic and industrial partners.
As a doctoral researcher, you will participate in project implementation and reporting, supervise MSc and Bachelor students, assist in teaching, and engage in training opportunities such as proposal writing and high-impact scientific publishing. Applicants must hold an MSc degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with strong knowledge of cryptography, algorithms, or information security. Experience in post-quantum cryptography is advantageous. Candidates should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset for working with academia and industry, and strong English communication skills. Eligibility to pursue a doctoral degree at the University of Turku is required, including demonstrated ability for postgraduate studies and capacity to complete a doctoral degree according to the research plan. A valid English proficiency certificate (e.g., IELTS or TOEFL) may be required.
The position is fully funded for three years, with a starting salary of 2500–2700 euros/month, depending on experience and qualifications. A six-month trial period applies.
