PhD Positions in Nuclear Engineering and Reactor Physics at National Centre for Nuclear Research
The National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in Poland is inviting applications for several fully funded PhD positions in Nuclear Engineering and related fields. The available topics span a range of cutting-edge research areas, including the design of critical assemblies for High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactors (HTGR-POLA), probabilistic inverse modeling for atmospheric contamination source identification, safety and environmental consequence modeling for SMR/HTGR reactors, development of universal casks for spent nuclear fuel, nuclear production of emission-free hydrogen, modeling of zero power Dual Fluid Reactors, and the design of experimental thermal molten salt loops for HTR applications.
Supervisors for these projects include leading scientists such as prof dr hab. Mariusz Dąbrowski, dr hab. inż. Karol Kowal, prof. dr hab. Tomasz Kozlowski, prof. dr hab. Wacław Gudowski, prof. dr hab. Konrad Czerski, and prof. dr hab. Jerzy Cetnar, among others. The research will be conducted at NCBJ, a premier institution in Poland for nuclear research and reactor technology.
Applicants should have a strong background in physics, nuclear engineering, or a closely related discipline. Some projects require advanced programming skills (MATLAB, Python), and experience with probabilistic modeling or Bayesian statistics is advantageous. The selection process involves a review of academic and research experience, followed by an oral exam and interview. English proficiency is required.
