Postdoc in Social Network Modeling of Clean Energy Acceptance and Support in the Caribbean Population
This postdoctoral position at Eindhoven University of Technology offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the sustainable energy transition in the Caribbean, focusing on the Dutch Caribbean islands. The successful candidate will join the Innovation Lab for Utilities on Sustainable Technology and Renewable Energy (ILUSTRE) within JADS, working in a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment. The project adopts a social science perspective, leveraging advanced computational methods such as machine learning and social network analysis to understand and facilitate the adoption of clean energy technologies.
The research will involve extracting and modeling topics, opinions, and social networks from diverse sources, including newspaper articles, to analyze how public sentiment and stakeholder perspectives evolve over time. Statistical social network models will be used to study the co-development of opinions and willingness to adopt clean energy solutions within Curaçao society. The project also aims to develop agent-based models to simulate and support the energy transition process, with a strong preference for ML and SNA methodologies.
Applicants should have a PhD in Computational Social Science, Sociology, Machine Learning, or a related discipline, with proven expertise in network modeling. The position requires excellent English proficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a vibrant academic community.
