PhD Assistantship in Soil Health, Nutrient Cycling, and Sustainable Management at University of Wyoming
The Department of Ecosystem Science and Management at the University of Wyoming is offering a fully funded Ph.D. Graduate Assistantship in Soil Health. The position focuses on research related to soil health, nutrient cycling, and sustainable management of rangeland and cropping systems, with a particular emphasis on Wyoming Rangeland Soil Health. The research will investigate soil–plant–animal interactions under working rangeland conditions and provide advanced training in soil health assessment, ecosystem processes, and stakeholder-engaged science.
Research responsibilities include designing and conducting field experiments, working with ranchers and land managers, collecting and analyzing soil, plant, and water data, preparing research reports, presenting findings at conferences, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The position is ideal for students interested in field-based research and data-driven science in soil science, ecology, agronomy, or environmental sciences.
Applicants must hold an M.S. degree in a relevant field, have field experience in soil health or rangeland systems, and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills. Statistical analysis skills and publication experience are preferred. A valid U.S. driver’s license is required.
