?Are you keen to do groundbreaking, policy-relevant research that helps shape Australia’s energy future?

We're offering a fully-funded 3.5 year PhD scholarship at the University of Canberra as part of our Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project on Just Transmission: Advancing Coherence in Australia’s Electricity Policy. The PhD will explore how communities and policymakers navigate competing objectives in developing electricity transmission infrastructure — a key enabler of large-scale renewable energy.

You'll be part of a world-class interdisciplinary team with a joint appointment across the Canberra School of Government, Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Centre for Environmental Governance (all based in the UC Faculty of Business, Government and Law ), working with our co-investigators at Sydney Environment Institute and Macquarie University .

What's required

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor degree with First Class Honours or be regarded by the University as having an equivalent level of attainment. Candidates should have a background in political science, public policy, or a related field, with strengths in qualitative research and analysis, and excellent communication and collaboration skills. The position is open to domestic and international applicants eligible to study in Australia on an international student visa. Applicants must be enrolled or seeking to enrol as a full-time candidate in a Higher Degree by Research course at the University of Canberra.
