The scholarship includes a grant according to government scales, extensive homeworking options, telework or internet allowances, cost-free hospitalisation insurance, full reimbursement of public transport commuting, and access to campus facilities and benefits.

Applicants should hold a Master's degree in Economics, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics, with a strong interest in sustainable energy systems. Essential qualifications include basic modelling skills, programming experience (preferably Python), and a solid mathematical background. Experience with system dynamics modelling is advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills in English, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a willingness to participate in international meetings and conferences. Basic Dutch language skills are a plus. Non-EEA nationals must meet VUB's permit and residence requirements.

The application deadline is 15 January 2026. Interested candidates should apply via the VUB job portal, submitting a CV, motivation letter, and diploma (not required for VUB alumni).
