About this position
?? We are looking for a PhD student to join our icing team ??
This is a fully-funded PhD (fees and bursary) in experimental icing. The overall aim of this doctoral research work is to use optical flow visualisation and measurement techniques to study droplet impact under icing conditions, in order to improve in-flight icing numerical codes. The study will focus on droplet impact mechanics along with freezing thermodynamics under high-impact speeds to gather important insights into ice adhesion behaviour.
This project would suit a student with an aerospace, mechanical engineering or applied physics background. Experience with icing, droplet dynamics, wind tunnel testing will be a plus. This opportunity is open to both UK and international students.
Application deadline: 2nd July, 2025
