About this position

Indiana University Bloomington's School of Public Health is offering a fully funded PhD Graduate Assistantship in the Department of Health & Wellness Design, starting Fall 2026. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in advancing research in health, wellness, and recreational therapy, with a strong emphasis on digital health, digital therapeutics, socially assistive robotics, virtual reality, and conversational user interfaces. The program also explores ecological momentary assessment and serves diverse populations, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (notably autism spectrum disorder) and those with spinal cord injuries, with a focus on cross-cultural perspectives.

The assistantship provides a competitive 9-month stipend for 20 hours per week, a full tuition waiver (excluding student fees), and is renewable for up to four academic years based on satisfactory performance. Additional compensation may be available for teaching or grant-funded work during the academic year and summer. Graduate assistants will assist with and eventually lead research and teaching activities, develop data collection protocols, coordinate research logistics, analyze and report data, contribute to peer-reviewed publications, assist with grant writing, and present findings at conferences. The position offers opportunities for international and interprofessional collaboration.

Preferred applicants will have a background in an allied health field, with a CTRS credential considered an asset. Experience with interdisciplinary projects, qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, and scholarly activities such as manuscript preparation is desirable. The Department of Health & Wellness Design is committed to infusing health, happiness, and well-being into organizational structures and prepares students for diverse careers in business, healthcare management, recreation therapy, public health, and research.

To apply, prospective PhD students should email Assistant Professor Cedomir Stanojevic at [email protected] to discuss fit and learn more about the program. Additional information about the department and research areas can be found on the department's website and the supervisor's academic and professional profiles.
