The College of Business and Law at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is offering a fully funded PhD studentship within the Innovation, Operations and Supply Management (IOMS) research group. This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in exploring how organisations innovate, operate, and adapt within complex global systems, with a particular emphasis on fostering innovation, resilience, and equity across public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. The IOMS Research Group investigates the dynamics of innovation and operational management, focusing on themes such as sustainability, digital transformation, and social equity. Projects may examine how individuals and organisations enact innovation and agency in challenging environments, the interplay between digital transformation, mental wellbeing, and sustainable performance, the design of smart and connected systems that drive inclusion and behavioural change, and ethical procurement and supply management as drivers of social and economic resilience. PhD students will benefit from the vibrant research environment at the College of Business and Law, which offers modern facilities, diverse research groups, and comprehensive support through the UWE Doctoral Academy. The Academy provides professional development, research skills training, and career advice to help doctoral candidates succeed. The studentship is available for three years starting 1 April 2026, subject to satisfactory progress. It includes a tax-exempt stipend of £20,780 per annum and covers full-time home/international tuition fees. Applicants must hold at least a 2.1 degree in business management, innovation studies, supply chain management, or a related discipline, and preferably a Masters degree with an average mark of no less than 65% (UK grading scale or international equivalent). A recognised English language qualification is required, with an IELTS score of 7.0 overall or equivalent.
