The Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre at the University of Manchester is offering a number of fully funded PhD studentships through the Medical Research Council Doctoral Training Partnership (MRC DTP). These prestigious positions are open to students worldwide and focus on cutting-edge research in neuroscience, stroke, dementia, and brain health. Projects span a wide range of topics, including the study of Alzheimer's risk in women, early detection of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases using advanced retinal imaging and machine learning, neuroinflammation in genetic vascular dementia, and the role of cholesterol in haemorrhagic stroke. Additional research areas include immune dysregulation and neurodegeneration, as well as targeting inflammasomes to guide anti-inflammatory therapies.
