PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Sustainable Agriculture INRAE and Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium

This PhD opportunity focuses on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Sustainable Agriculture, offered through a collaboration between INRAE (France) and Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) as part of the GreenFieldData project under the Horizon Europe MSCA Joint Doctoral Network. The research aims to develop adaptive navigation algorithms for agricultural robots operating in dynamic environments such as fields and vineyards. Key research areas include artificial intelligence, mobile robotics, data engineering, foundation models, and the Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT).

The successful candidate will design and implement data engineering pipelines for managing robotic trajectory databases, develop advanced learning models for planning and autonomous navigation, and integrate human-in-the-loop approaches to enhance robot decision-making. The project emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and offers opportunities to publish in leading international conferences and journals.

The position is based in Brussels (Belgium) and Aubière (France), with 18 months spent at each location. The doctoral contract spans 36 months, starting in September 2026, and provides a net monthly salary of approximately €3,140, with additional family allowance if applicable. The program includes international mobility, participation in workshops and summer schools, and industrial collaborations with partners such as Manitou Group and Recyclo.

Applicants should have a Master's or Engineering degree in computer science, robotics, data science, or a related field, with strong skills in Python, C++, machine learning, neural networks, and data management (PostgreSQL, MobilityDB).
