This unique, interdisciplinary STEM-designated program is at the intersection of data science, artificial intelligence, and financial innovation, and is jointly offered by the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics and the College of Engineering. The FSAN program is designed for students passionate about applying modern data science techniques, such as AI and machine learning, to solve real-world problems in the financial services industry and related technology sectors.

Students in the FSAN program benefit from state-of-the-art facilities, including the JPMorganChase Innovation Center, the Geltzeiler Trading Center, and the Harker Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory. The program fosters a collaborative environment with a small, diverse cohort, enabling close interaction with faculty and industry leaders. Research topics include predictive analytics, bank systemic risk, malware detection, credit card fraud detection, NLP and chatbots, link recommendation, text-based industry classification, loan process optimization, customer targeting, active learning on graphs, and Bayesian causal inference.

Applicants must have a B.S. or M.S. degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, business, engineering, or related disciplines, and demonstrate strong analytical and computer skills. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. International students may need to submit English language proficiency scores. The program offers excellent internship opportunities with major banks, fintech, and technology companies such as JPMorganChase, Barclays, Amazon, LinkedIn, HP, Google, Microsoft, and Meta.
