Colorado State University is seeking a PhD Student Research Assistant in Occupation and Rehabilitation Science, with a focus on equine-assisted therapy and learning. The research program covers systematic reviews, efficacy research, industry-focused studies, and equine care and welfare, with a strong emphasis on occupational therapy integrating horses, intervention science, clinical trials management, and mixed-methods research. The center collaborates with organizations such as the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship and the American Hippotherapy Association, and is committed to advancing science in equine-assisted services for diverse populations, including autistic children and individuals with developmental disabilities.

The position offers full tuition coverage and a research assistant stipend for three years, along with mentorship and training in a top-ranked Occupational Therapy program at a Carnegie R1 institution. Applicants must hold a master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Science, Public Health, Psychology, Kinesiology, or Animal Sciences with a human-animal interaction focus. Evidence of research potential, strong communication skills, and experience with equine-assisted services or working with individuals with Down Syndrome are highly valued.
