About this position

Copenhagen Business School is inviting applications for one or more postdoc positions in entrepreneurship at the Department of Strategy and Innovation.

The positions are connected to the research activities of Professor José Mata and focus on questions such as what leads individuals to create new ventures, what makes organizations more entrepreneurial, which strategies help firms become entrepreneurial, and what the consequences are for venture success and society.

Research topics include entrepreneurship by women and immigrants across the firm life cycle, how entrepreneurship changes over time and across geographies, how entrepreneurial organizations mobilize funds, employees, and founding/managerial teams, and the role of organizations that support new venture creation.

The work is strongly empirical and may involve large-scale microdata, especially Danish microdata, experiments in the lab and field, and primary or secondary data such as surveys and third-party datasets. The department emphasizes strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and international business, with interdisciplinary links to economics, sociology, psychology, and economic geography.

Applicants should have completed a PhD in Management, Economics, or a related social science discipline before the fellowship begins. The ideal candidate is a recent PhD graduate with strong empirical skills, experience with large datasets, a solid academic record, good communication and organizational skills, and motivation for research. Knowledge of Stata is desirable, and willingness to live in Denmark is expected.

The appointment is for 2 years with a possible extension to a third year. Salary follows the Ministry of Finance agreement, and a small personal research budget for travel and conference participation is available.

Application deadline: 9 April 2026. Applications must be submitted through the electronic recruitment system and include a cover letter, a short research project proposal, CV, proof of qualifications, three references, publication list, marked key outputs, and copies of the marked manuscripts.

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
