About this position

Postdoctoral position in functional genomics, molecular biology, developmental biology, and animal physiology at the Institute for Research on Cancer and Aging, Nice (IRCAN), France, in the Röttinger team. The project focuses on the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis and aims to decipher the role of telomeres in response to temperature variation and stress resistance in cnidarians.

The successful candidate will lead experiments and analyses in a collaborative, international, multidisciplinary environment. The work includes developing molecular and genetic tools, designing/cloning/synthesizing/microinjecting components for functional analyses, and performing phenotypic analysis using microscopy, cytometry, and transcriptomic approaches. The broader team studies regeneration, environmental adaptation, stress responses, and aging-related biology in cnidarians.

Eligibility highlights: doctorate required; strong experience in molecular and cell biology; strong experience in developmental biology and animal physiology; strong publication record; ability to write scientific manuscripts; fluent English preferred. Experience with functional genomics, transcriptomics, CRISPR/Cas9, light-sheet microscopy, FISH, marine/non-model organisms, and marine invertebrate animal care is desirable.

Funding and terms: 12-month full-time research contract. Gross monthly salary is between €3175 and €4258 depending on prior experience. Annual leave, RTT, remote working practice, and transport support are mentioned.

Application window: deadline is 2026-04-15. Apply via the CNRS job portal for offer UMR7284-ERIROT-009.
