About this position

The Center for School Behavioral Health (CSBH) at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for a full-time position in implementation science and school-based behavioral health, with a start date in Summer or Fall 2026. The CSBH is dedicated to transforming youth behavioral health by advancing scalable, sustainable, and equitable prevention and early intervention strategies in K-12 educational settings. The center's work includes rigorous research, real-world partnerships with hundreds of schools, workforce development, mental health and substance use training, and policy engagement to improve student outcomes.

This fellowship offers the opportunity to immerse in high-impact research at the intersection of implementation science, school behavioral health systems, and prevention/intervention strategies. The fellow will lead and contribute to multidisciplinary projects evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of evidence-based behavioral health supports, collaborate with school partners and policymakers, and engage in mixed-methods research. Responsibilities include preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, presenting at national conferences, and contributing to grant proposals. The fellow will receive mentorship and professional development tailored to independent research career trajectories, including grant writing and academic leadership.

Ideal candidates will have a recently completed Ph.D. or equivalent in psychology, public health, education, health services, implementation science, or a related discipline. Applicants should have strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, a grounding in implementation science frameworks (such as CFIR or Proctor’s outcomes), and a commitment to translating research into real-world practice and policy. Experience with mixed-methods research, community-engaged partnerships, or translational science is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills and a record or strong potential for scientific productivity are expected.

The position is fully funded, with a competitive salary and excellent benefits. The fellow will be considered for a joint Harvard Medical School appointment. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. To apply, submit a single PDF including a cover letter, CV, two writing samples, and contact information for three references to Dr. Randi Schuster at [email protected].
