Postdoctoral Fellowships in International Relations and Protectionism at Stockholm University Stockholm University in Sweden

Stockholm University is offering two ERC-funded postdoctoral fellowships in International Relations, focusing on the project “PROTECT – Protectionism in Place: Explaining How Subnational Change Affects Public Support for Protectionism.” The project investigates how local changes influence public opinion toward protectionism in trade, finance, and labor market policies, using new survey and subnational context data from various countries. The research group is based at the Department of Economic History and International Relations, a leading center for research in International Security, International Institutions, and International Political Economy.

The postdoctoral fellows will join a collaborative team including other postdocs, senior researchers, and PhD students. One position emphasizes the design, collection, and analysis of survey and panel data, including survey experiments, while the other focuses on the collection and analysis of subnational data using machine learning, Python programming, and neural networks. Both positions require strong quantitative research skills and the ability to work in an international, cross-disciplinary environment.

Applicants must have a completed doctoral degree in a relevant field, preferably within the last three years, though exceptions are possible for special circumstances. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in international relations and, depending on the position, experience with survey data analysis or advanced computational methods. Excellent academic written English is required.

The positions are full-time for two to three years, with possible extension, and offer individual salary setting.
