About this position
A three-year postdoctoral position in astronomy is available at the Department of Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. The successful candidate will join the research group of Professor Josefin Larsson and focus on research related to supernova remnants. The position emphasizes the analysis and interpretation of observational data from both space- and ground-based facilities, including the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). Research directions may include studies of ejecta structure and composition, circumstellar interaction, and pulsar wind nebulae, with flexibility to tailor projects to the candidate’s expertise and interests.
The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to participate in the supervision of master’s and/or PhD students. Astrophysics research at KTH is part of the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics (OKC) at the AlbaNova University Centre, which offers a vibrant international research environment and a large community of researchers working on supernovae. The OKC hosts a broad range of activities, seminars, and collaborations, supporting a dynamic and stimulating research atmosphere.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree by the time of employment decision. A strong research track record, demonstrated through high-quality publications, and experience in the analysis of observational astronomical data are required. Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree obtained within the last three years, research experience on supernova remnants or a closely related field, experience with supervision and teaching, strong collaborative skills, the ability to work independently, and awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with a focus on gender equality.
The position is full-time for up to three years, with a monthly salary and attractive benefits provided by KTH. The start date is according to agreement. The application should include a CV, publication list, cover letter (maximum two pages), and names and contact information for two referees. Applications must be submitted through KTH’s recruitment system by April 15, 2026. For further information, contact Professor Josefin Larsson at [email protected].
