Postdoctoral Position in Energy Transition Research (Hydropower and Electricity Markets) NHH Norwegian School of Economics in Norway

NHH Norwegian School of Economics, located in Bergen, Norway, is offering a postdoctoral position in energy transition research, with a particular focus on the role of hydropower in the future Norwegian and European energy systems. The position is funded by RenewHydro, a centre for environment-friendly energy research supported by the Research Council of Norway. The main goal of the centre is to provide knowledge and solutions that enable flexible hydropower to support the energy transition and help achieve national energy, climate, and nature targets.

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to a project developing and analysing computational models for electricity markets, power systems, and hydropower scheduling. The position is affiliated with the ENE Centre at the Department of Business and Management Science at NHH, which offers a vibrant research environment with a strong publication record, excellent academic networks, and close cooperation with industry and government. The centre includes PhD candidates, young academics, and senior researchers working on economic theory, applied econometrics, finance, optimisation, decision-making, and policy. The department is a partner in several large, technology-oriented research projects focusing on energy transition and sustainability.

The position is for three years, with the possibility of extension for up to one additional year under certain conditions. Applicants should be early in their careers and must hold, or be close to completing, a PhD degree in a business-oriented field such as management science, operations research, finance, or economics from a recognised business school or university. The ability to engage in applied research discussions with industry partners is highly valued. International experience and qualifications will be emphasised during the assessment process, and female applicants will be given preference in the event of equivalent qualifications among candidates.
