The Kim Lab at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join their team in the Department of Pathology and Comprehensive Cancer Center. The lab, led by Assistant Professor Tae-Hyung Kim, focuses on the intersection of cancer biology, mechanobiology, and metabolism, using breast cancer as a model to study how metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes influence cancer metastasis. The research aims to elucidate the molecular and mechanical mechanisms by which hyperglycemia and metabolic disorders alter the properties of cancer and immune cells, impacting cancer progression, immune evasion, and the effectiveness of immunotherapy.

Current projects involve investigating the mechanical properties of cancer and stromal cells within the tumor microenvironment, identifying molecular mediators that promote cancer cell survival and motility, and developing novel anti-cancer treatment strategies. The lab is well-funded through NIH grants (R35 MIRA ESI) and offers access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure and equipment.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as cell and molecular biology, cancer biology, immunology, cancer metabolism, or mechanobiology. Strong motivation for career development, basic English communication skills, and eligibility for a U.S. J-1 visa are required.
